Baen never had DRM. And if you haven't lost your login you can go back and 
download in another format. Even if you've lost your login, if you can get 
them enough info they may find it for you.

Re the lit format, there is a very nice !!*free* !! ebook management program 
called Calibre which will convert Lit, RTF, Jpeg and other formats to PDF or 
EPub as long as they're not DRM protected. I learned about Calibre from 
Amazon's customer reviews and have to agree that this nifty little program 
is far superior to the ebook manufacturers' original software, especially 
Sony's.

(Based on bitter experience, I have come to totally despise DRM and made a 
vow a couple of years ago to never again to purchase a DRM protected title 
no matter how good the deal being offered. If I want a new DRM protected 
title that badly, all I have to do is either borrow it from the local libary 
or wait for a while to buy a used print edition from Amazon, BookFinder or 
my local used bookstore).

I am currently using Calibre to recover and convert a whole slew of ebook 
titles I thought I had lost forever. So far, I have successfully transferred 
118 ebooks from Baen Books and Fictionwise to my refurbished Sony PRS 300 
eReader which I purchased from Amazon a few months ago for $69.00 and 
change.

(Several months ago, I tried a Kobe ereader, except it wasn't called that, 
and returned it to WalMart the next day because it actually lacked features 
I had taken for granted on my very first Rocket.)

My decision to buy s Sony PRS 300 rather than a Kindle or one of its 
wireless relatives stems from a. my distrust of wireless in general and b. 
my disgust with ereader manufacturers and/or distributors like Amazon, 
Barnes and Noble etc in particular for attempting to turn their customers 
into captive audiences by forcing them to buy their ebooks exclusively from 
them and no-one else.

(Excuse me, but didn't Rocket and its mostly unlamented successor, Gemstar, 
try this very same stunt when THEY first started out? And look where it got 
THEM. Since my current ereader collection includes a Rocket, a Gemstar, 
Gemstar's EBookwise successor, a defunct HP Jornada and a couple of equally 
defunct Palm Zires, I know what I'm talking about. Of them all, I liked the 
Jornada the best. Unfortunately, after I managed to dump a full mug of 
coffee on it, that was the end of the Jornada; and the less said about my 
experience with Palm's Customer Service department, the better.)

About six months ago, I tried a Kobe relative and returned it to Walmart the 
very next day. Not only was this particular ereader clunky beyond belief, it 
actually lacked features I had taken for granted on my very first Rocket.

Because my Sony PRS 300 downloads Calibre-converted non-DRM ebooks via my 
computer's USB port, I can buy whatever I want from whomever I want; and, 
better yet, I can also download my own texts and graphics.

While it's true that the Sony RS 300 lacks a backlight and doesn't run 
nearly as smoothly as the Rocket or Gemstar, I like its operating 
simplicity, long battery life, ability to organize titles and, last but not 
least, its extremely light weight; especially when compared to the Rocket 
and Gemstar.
