What platform or multiples to publish on for e-readers

Hi all

I am a little confused with all the changes happening in the e-book  
industry and have several books I would like to publish for a variety  
of platforms of e-readers.
Several are books for adults with boxes and callouts of information  
that I am assuming the layout wouldn't be able to stay, one is a book  
for teens with graphic elements interspersed and the others are color  
children's books which utilize the spread aspect of a book.  Any ideas  
on what platforms I should publish for and some resources for either  
doing it myself or hiring it out?
