AMAZON PROBLEM...PLEASE BE AWARE!

Amazon has struck again. Instead of doing what industry members asked them to do (because we had reader complaints on this) and adding a page count and/or word count block to the KDP (Kindle upload system), Amazon has instituted an "estimated" page count on all titles which do not also have a print version on sale. This estimated page count is wildly incorrect. On two of my ebook only titles alone (both novellas), one is 85 pages long and estimated by Amazon to be 58 pages long (an error of 27 pages and nearly a third of the actual book length) and the second is 114 pages long and estimated at 72 pages long (for a difference of 42 pages and 37% of the actual book length). I SHUDDER to see what they do with novel-length works! I haven't gotten that far yet with the testing. 

THIS is unacceptable. It harms our sales by unfairly representing book length. Amazon MUST be forced to put listing this in the hands of publishers/authors (make it a required entry, if they must) but the estimated length MUST GO. 

Please check your lengths against the actual page count (preferably on a DOC or PDF sized at about print length...5.25x8 or 6x9) and complain to Amazon about it. The only way we will get movement from Amazon here is if everyone stands together and complains about it. Please remember that they are claiming this is estimated print length. Print books are made from PDF...not from a free-flow format like Mobi/PRC or ePub. Claiming to be estimating page count on a print book is ONLY true and correct if it's based on the PDF or comparable format, IMO.
