If you want pdf output, you can go directly from Word to pdf using any one of several free utilities. I use "doPDF". Once installed it looks just like another printer in Windoze. so you can make a pdf of anything you can print. It takes some learning, but Word can do pretty much any kind of book formatting you can think of.
