Doug says, "It has been surprising to me to discover people with right-wing and even neo-fascist political views who claim an affinity for Pynchon's work, that's for sure, but live and learn I guess." Who are these right-wingers? Who are the people who claim an affinity for Pynchon's works and have also expressed neo-fascist political views or even conservative political views? I can't find a single post in the archives to support your claim. Did you read all of this Bush supporting/right-wing/neo-fascist stuff off list? The fact is, there are no such people on Pynchon-L. If there were, it would not be a crime or anything villainous. Pynchon-L is not a very good list. It has certainly seen better days. But imagine how bad it would be if everyone agreed with Doug? Doug, it's apparent that you consider Pynchon-L your private newletter. When you post to the Pynchon list you think you are keeping your subscribers informed by sending them the headlines and editorials from numerous Left-wing news sources. This is why you say you are surprised to discover that some of the people subscribed to Pynchon-L don't share your political views. Why should anyone subscribe to your newsletter unless they agree with most of your political ideas? Of course, Pynchon-L isno your private newletter and you have confused your own political views with those of Pynchon's novels. This list is public discussion of Pynchon. There is no reason why conservatives or Bush supporters shouldn't contribute. They don't, but there is no reason why they should not. There are no such people posting to Pynchon-L. There are only people who don't agree with your political views or/and are so sick and tired of your political soap-boxing. These people, myself included, foolishly responded to your bait and spam from time to time. When we respond to your bait and spam the entire discussion turns to what Doug has to say about what us, that is, that we are a bunch of fascists. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
