Updates.  Some of you want them.  I'm not providing them.  What can I 
say that hasn't been said in America's finest blogs?  They've done a 
better job than I could of bashing George (heehee) DUMBya Bush.

What could I add to the discussion on the hypocrisy of certain European 
nations criticizing American foreign policy when many of the world's 
problems stem from the colonialist legacies those nations left behind?  
As a working woman, what could I write about all of the people -- those 
middle-class leeches -- who are stealing MY money to pay their way 
through life?  The incongruity of laws that alternately treat teenagers 
as children and adults, the situation depending on the maximum number of 
convictions that can be attained?  It's been done.  An article on drug 
laws and their far-reaching consequences that is peppered with stories 
of my heroin-addicted, converted-to-Islam-in-prison cousin?  I wouldn't 
know where to start.

appears as if I might be leaving the tri-state area.  If all goes well, 
I will bid farewell to the NYC metro region by January 2003, and while I 
know I'll start feeling homesick when I no longer receive letters 
erroneously admonishing me for going through the E-ZPass lane without 
paying the toll, I'm sure I'll manage to get over the heartache.  I 
didn't intend to leave, but a certain state or maybe even a foreign 
country was calling my name: Catherine -- I mean, Mike -- no, Stacy -- 
wait, David.  Better job, (slightly) better pay, and a free apartment 
with a cousin who has dabbled in the gay porn industry.  You can't beat 
that.  Well, you could, but I'm probably willing to settle for less than 
you would.  When you've spent five years living near a trashy deaf 
family and the burning stench of industrial fumes, it's easy to move up 
in the world.  Set your standards low.  That's how I live.

It'll be a nice temporary change, and I'll get to use the chemistry 
degree.  This probably will affect how often I update my site, although 
given my current lack of interest, you shouldn't notice a difference.  
It'll take a bit of time to acclimate myself to my new surroundings and 
the fact that my cousin occasionally sticks his dick in asses to earn a 
few bucks (at least I hope he's the top), and it's possible that the 
change of scenery might bless me with a cheery disposition.  So, if you 
don't hear from me for a few months, just assume I'm attending wild 
orgies that I can't participate in because, well, I'm not a gay man.  
I'm a heterosexual man through and through, baby.  

It doesn't count if they're taking hormones, right?

CALIFORNIA - A plot by a 12-year-old seventh-grade boy to take a class 
hostage at knifepoint, sexually assault a girl and then kill himself was 
foiled moments before he intended to carry it out, Kern County sheriff's 
officials said at a news conference Friday.

The potential tragedy at Sierra Middle School was avoided Thursday 
morning when another pupil saw the boy with a knife in his waistband and 
alerted the teacher, sheriff's Cmdr. Marty Williamson said.

"This thing was averted because of a student taking responsibility and 
coming forward," Williamson said.

After the boy was removed from the class, two other pupils came forward 
and said the boy had asked them Thursday morning to help with a hostage 
plot, Williamson said.

The target of the plot, a 12-year-old girl with whom the suspect was 
infatuated, was surprised and frightened, school Principal Al Capilla 
said.

The boy's backpack was loaded with handcuffs, condoms, an undisclosed 
sexual device, a bottle of Michelob beer, ham and crackers -- all 
intended to help him carry out the plot, Williamson said.

The boy told investigators his plan was to use the knife to hold the 
entire class hostage, then release everyone except the girl, sexually 
assault the girl and then kill himself, Williamson said.

The boy was described by Capilla as a loner who was infatuated with the 
girl. She ignored his attempts to become romantically involved, the 
principal said.

As Leonard Madrid waited for his 11-year-old daughter out in front of 
the school Friday afternoon, he, too, said he is concerned for his 
daughter's safety. Madrid said he was amazed that a 12-year-old boy 
could even conceive of a plan to commandeer a classroom and sexually 
assault a classmate at knifepoint.

"The things he had with him -- how can that be?" Madrid said. "For a kid 
that young to be thinking those kinds of things ... what's going on in 
his home?"

SAN DIEGO – Almost 23 years after their relationship ended, a 
40-year-old woman testified in court yesterday about an 18-month affair 
with her English teacher at Vista High School. 

During a preliminary hearing for the teacher, Jeffrey Paul Jones, the 
woman said she has stepped forward after more than two decades because 
she has a teen-age daughter and doesn't want what happened to her to 
happen to her daughter. She also said she did not believe Jones was 
truly sorry for what he did. 

Jones, 54, who has acknowledged the affair, is charged with sodomy and 
oral copulation with a minor. The felony counts are each punishable by 
up to three years in prison, prosecutor Annette Irving said. 

Because the woman was a minor at the time of the affair, state law 
allows her to file a criminal complaint after the statute of limitations 
has expired. The woman filed a complaint in June. A criminal complaint 
was filed against Jones this summer. 

The woman testified that Jones was her first kiss when their affair 
started when she was 15. He took her on trips to Arizona and other 
places. She said they had sex in his classroom, other areas of the 
school, motels and at the beach. During the course of the relationship, 
the woman estimated she had about 200 encounters with Jones. 

Jones, who has been teaching at the school for 31 years, does not deny 
the sexual relationship, which occurred between May 15, 1978, and Nov. 
30, 1979.

His accuser said she has suffered mental anguish since the affair. She 
testified that after the relationship she couldn't approach a high 
school campus for two years. She never went to college and she rushed 
into her first marriage. 

In an effort to reconcile what had happened, the woman said, she met 
with Jones in 1998. "He said he was sorry," she said. "But he also said 
if it was 400 years ago it wouldn't be wrong." 

The woman said she sought counseling at her church and psychological 
therapy before deciding to pursue a criminal complaint. "I knew it was 
time to do something," she said.

NEW YORK CITY - Five young boys committed a shocking attack on a 
kindergartner at their Bronx school, kicking, punching and sodomizing 
the boy, police said yesterday. The assailants - two 12-year-olds and 
three 5-year-olds - jumped the kindergartner at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in 
a boys' bathroom, police said.

The gang punched and kicked the 5-year-old while they pulled off his 
pants, police said. Then the two older boys, both sixth-graders, 
sexually assaulted him, investigators said.

One suspect, a 12-year-old, has been arrested and charged with sodomy, 
cops said.

"They beat and punched and hurt my baby," the victim's mother said last 
night.

"They threatened him. They told him not to say nothing. They said if he 
talked, he wouldn't see me again, the police would take him and they 
would hit him some more," the woman said through tears.

After the assault, the older students put the child's pants back on and 
straightened his clothing, the mother said.

"Those horrible children had put his clothes back on to hide what they 
had done," she said.

It wasn't until Wednesday afternoon, after the child was home, that the 
horrific details came out.

"I asked him, 'Why, why didn't you cry or tell the teacher?'" his mother 
said, breaking into sobs. "He said he didn't because he's a little man, 
and little men don't cry."

Police arrested the 12-year-old Thursday. He was in the principal's 
office for a different offense when cops arrived, sources said. He was 
removed from the school and released to his grandmother, pending a 
Family Court appearance.

The grandmother said she believed the police made a mistake.

"I think it's all a mixup. I really do believe the boy might have been 
attacked. I don't deny that. I just don't believe it was Johnny," the 
grandmother, 63, said last night at her home not far from CS 50.

"Johnny has a problem. He's hyperactive and on medication. Johnny has a 
habit of being where he shouldn't," she said.

MICHIGAN - A man who walked nude in his back yard and was spotted by 
neighbors using a pumpkin to sexually gratify himself was sentenced this 
week to 90 days in jail for indecent exposure.

Bill Saintclair Patton, 45, was jailed on an unrelated domestic violence 
charge when he was brought to 37th District Court on Tuesday for the 
2-year-old indecent exposure case.

Residents on Lyons Circle East complained to police in November 2000 
that Patton masturbated in the yard, and that they later saw him commit 
a sex act using a pumpkin, in plain view through a basement window.

The act is similar to a scene in the movie "American Pie".

"If that's where he got the idea to do this, I don't know," said Warren 
Detective Sgt. Gary Johnson: "I can't think of any (other) report I've 
ever seen of a guy doing anything with a vegetable or fruit."

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections Web site, Patton is 
a habitual criminal and sexual delinquent.

The 90-day sentence pleased at least one resident in Patton's 
neighborhood near 13 Mile and Mound roads.

"It makes me feel better," said the resident, who asked to not be named. 
"That stuff freaks you out. I wanted a better neighborhood for my kid."

JAPAN - The man seen by many as Japan’s next prime minister has caused 
outraged after reportedly commenting that it is "pointless" for women to 
go on living after the menopause. 

The controversial Tokyo governor, Shintaro Ishihara, is unlikely, 
however, to be troubled by the anger that he has aroused. The outspoken 
nationalist routinely blames crime in the capital on "foreigners", 
warning that Chinese and Korean immigrants will riot and loot homes and 
shops in the event of an earthquake. 

Mr Ishihara, 69, made his latest pronouncement in an interview with the 
women’s magazine Shukan Josei in November last year. 

Nearly 12 months later, a group of angry women, headed by a lawyer, Mami 
Nakano, and Yasuko Yunoki, a trades union representative, have organised 
a petition demanding a retraction and an apology - and are considering a 
lawsuit. 

It has taken them a year to verify that the comment was actually Mr 
Ishihara’s - and not, as he had suggested, sourced to a professor at 
Tokyo University. 

"Once discrimination against gender is allowed, there are many cases of 
discrimination: there is a risk of fascism," Ms Nakano said. "It is not 
an issue about women, but a human rights issue. 

"Even Hitler did not make that sort of remark," she added. 

The offending quote went as follows: "This is what Takafumi Matsui [a 
Tokyo University professor] has said, not me - but according to him, it 
is pointless and wicked that menopausal women live any longer. 

"He said that while men remain able to procreate even at 80 or 90, women 
lose the ability to give birth once they become menopausal," Mr Ishihara 
told the magazine. 

"It is evil for the globe that such women continue to live until the 
ages of Kin-san and Gin-san," he added. Kin-san and Gin-san were 
centenarian twins who became celebrities. 

"I was persuaded by [Prof Matsui’s] view, but I cannot express such 
thoughts as a politician," Mr Ishihara added. 

On 12 December last year, Mr Ishihara fanned the fire by declaring in 
the Tokyo metropolitan assembly that he totally agreed with other 
comments by Prof Matsui, comparing women with animals, and said that 
elderly women were nothing but an oppressive burden. 

Prof Matsui, however, has denied making the remarks. He is backed up by 
Ms Nakano. "According to our checks, Matsui did not make these remarks," 
she said. "These remarks expressed Mr Ishihara’s own thoughts." 

Some 447 women have signed an open letter to Mr Ishihara and Ms Nakano 
and Ms Yunokiare seeking 1 million signatures on a petition demanding 
that he apologise. 

"The essence of his remarks is violence against women," Ms Nakanao said, 
adding that, as Tokyo governor, Mr Ishihara was supposed to uphold laws 
promoting equality and preventing domestic violence. 

Despite proclamations that would alarm most people, Mr Ishihara is 
reportedly toying with the idea of challenging Prime Minister Junichiro 
Koizumi. The Tokyo governor was a member of Mr Koizumi’s Liberal 
Democratic Party until five years ago, when he resigned from parliament 
to stand as an independent in Tokyo’s gubernatorial elections. 

Winning by a landslide, Mr Ishihara’s popularity has remained high, in 
spite of his racist and sexist comments and his knack for angering the 
governments of China and South Korea by saying that Japan should stop 
apologising for the Second World War, and re-arm. 

Japanese politicians have something of a history of trampling on the 
sensitivities of entire sections of society. An economics minister, Taro 
Aso, declared in 2000 that "the best country in the world would be a 
country where the richest Jewish people would want to live," while Prime 
Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone claimed in 1986 that Americans were less 
intelligent than Japanese "because of a considerable number of blacks, 
Puerto Ricans and Mexicans".
