[I highly recommend the white paper. It is has comprehensive list of open
tools for education.  As these tools migrate to open source, service
oriented architecture based on web services and web services work flow may
have a profound impact on the delivery of education and elearning systems.

I thought you may be interested in an event being planned for late this Fall
exploring the impact of the open source movement in education.  The event is
entitled the Open Source Summit.  (http://www.opensourcesummit.org/)  There
is also an interesting  white paper available from the Summit web site: Open
