[Here is a good example of another company that is specializing in the sale
of dark fiber so that enterprises can build private fiber networks.  Many of
the companies entering this business are former gas, sewer, electrical and
water pipe construction contractors such as Lexent, UrbanNetworks, SRDP,
etc.  They may know very little about telecom, but they do know how to
deploy  underground pipes or conduit. They leave the lighting of the fiber
up to the customer.  Schools, businesses, hospitals, etc often buy the fiber
in order to connect directly to large carrier hotels or Internet exchange
points where they can connect to one or more service or content provides of

capacity to deploy its private fiber networks--meaning dedicated fiber
strands, unlike the industry-standard model of shared and metered circuits
for lease or purchase.

euNetworks' network links long-haul (country-to-country/city-to-city) fiber
between five key geographies--Germany, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom,
France, and Belgium. The network also has 15 last-mile or inner-city fiber
connections in Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt,
The Hague, Hamburg, Hanover, London, Munich, Paris, Rotterdam, Stuttgart,
and Utrecht.

euNetworks' metropolitan fiber infrastructure contains an average of six
ducts per city with 432 strands of fiber in each duct.
