[IMC-Philly] we raised high the roof beams

There have been many accomplishments this week from our various work 
crews, and i wanted everyone to hear about them:

  Saturday:

the carpenters rose high the roofbeams on saturday- there are just 
two more at the ends and the skylight to frame in on the roof of the 
back room. then we can block ( install blocks between the beams), 
sheathe ( cover with a skin of 3/4ply wood), tarpapering (simply 
stapling down roofing paper),  and then finally roof the place. Also, 
the back wall was framed and awaits permanent sheathing.  we hae left 
framed spaces for eventual windows- for now, we will cover everything 
with plywood. Mike, Dante, Cassandre, Amy, Doug, Rolando, Marlon, 
Mark, Jay and I think a few others showed up to help out!



Sunday:  Brujo, Rolando and Dandan showed up to help saet up for 
raising the antenna on the roof of knotsquat. we finished all the 
necessary prep- as soon as we have the antennas we need, they are 
ready to go up.

Monday: the WPEB studio was succesfully rewired! Dandan, Sharon, and 
Dante worked until 4:45 am and got the new board mixing board in, all 
professional like!

there are a few details to wrap up in the wpeb studio over the next few days.

Saturday Ten AM will be another workday at the space. My hope is to 
complete all necessary woodwork, and perhaps get down tar paper in 
preparation for roofing next time around. I will try to purchase 
roofing supplies for the whole back, and all necessary wood tomorrow. 
It looks like it will be a dry day, and not particularly cold.

we need to decide how to apply siding to the walls. probably the 
cheapest and easiest option is asphalt shingle like you would put on 
a roof. they are not particularly beautiful, but no one would really 
see it back there. I love cedar siding- it is beautiful and fits in 
with the sun room concept, but that is expensive. also, it may be 
somewhat more vulnerable to termites... have we exterminated yet, by 
the way? there is aluminum and plastic siding- i have never done 
either, though i am pretty sure either is easy- but way tacky of 
course. thoughts...?
