Editorial Brief: As more and more such disgusting news become apparent, one wonders what the status of literacy, if any, in India is. How can doctors refuse treatment to patients, especially children, knowing fully well that the disease is not contagious?

How can we allow people whom we hand out licenses via our government to practice medicine of choice?

Who will answer these questions for India? Where are we headed with the AIDS crisis? Children are not allowed in schools, not allowed treatment and are subjected to all forms of discrimination, for no fault of theirs.

We stand and observe all this in silent calm as if nothing has happened. How long can we allow such things to go on?

I would like to hear back from atleast someone on this. I would like to try and do something about this.

Thanks

Srihari
