salaam Laura, it is strange you ask this as I was just wondering about asking this too. I started out only wearing hijab in the mosque and for prayer. I saw it as a sign of respect for Allah like gentlemen tipping their hats but as I have struggled with the time and energy to pray at all, I have not worn hijab for prayer at home in a long time. I wash and pray in my nightgown in the AM and PM and am not home the rest of the time.
