RE: Dutch debate on mosque closing

thank you both for contributing your perspectives on your respective 
countries. it always makes a good discussion when you have first-person 
accounts.

carool, you are right... vdd is somewhat liberal in american standards, but 
america is a very right wing country compared to the netherlands.

what is sad is that hirsi is making these racist demands 'authentic.' when a 
person of muslim and immigrant background is out and about calling for the 
closures of mosques, who will criticise others? no one, of course. and this 
is partly why she was chosen--- like you said, a flagship of sort.

the good thing is that the muslims in that country are fighting her as much 
as they are fighting those "other" people, alhamdulillah.

i hope folks don't get me wrong, i'm very much proud of hirsi... because 
even though i disagree with her, i wish more of my people (somalis) had the 
guts to speak their minds. but, still...
