I almost fell out of my chair while reading a transcript of a recent interview with Jeb Bush by Tucker Carlson. Here is the part of the interview that made me literally fall out of my seat (link to original article is at bottome of message):

(Carlson): What do you read every day?

(Bush): I read The New York Times. I read The Wall Street Journal. I read the Sayfie Review, which is about Florida politics. I'm reading a wild book. It's The Singularity Is Near. [The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology,
by Ray Kurzweil] The book is about how technology is going to overtake
the human mind. There's basically like an L-shaped advancement that's
going to take place. There's a convergence of our own intellectual
capacities and technology. There's going to be a merger, and we're
going to, this guy believes, live in an era of unbelievable
intelligence and advancement. It's wild.
(Carlson): Do you buy that?

(Bush): I'm reading to learn.

If the money is in an independent trust they can not get it. Thus I assume 
CI and Alcor use such trust. If not then they are playing with fire.

I am sorry that you're giving up on cryonics, but i'd certainly
like to hear why---and also, how far into cryonics you were, and
just what the whole story is, if you'd care to tell.

That is, did you just read this list, or did you talk to other
cryonicists, or did you ever visit a facility, etc?

What i really want to get some sense of is what our failure mode was
this time.  (And by "our", i am referring to those of us who think
cryonics is a very important part of human existence.  If you bail,
then you presumably do not share this view.)

So, if you don't mind sharing, please post or write me privately
([email protected] --- gmail has superlative spam detection, so
i'm not worried about my address appearing in public).

Oh---and if you want to get off the list, then you need to follow
the unsubscribe instructions that come in every digest (unless
Kevin happens to see this and manually takes your name off).
