Somehow I missed this great "60 Minutes" report from December 13 on "Growing Body Parts".  Progress in this field is moving more quickly than I realized with several therapeutic uses already, from regrowing and transplanting bladders to regrowing muscle in war wounds.  I apologize if someone already mentioned this.  But it is definitely worth knowing about.

One of the biggest problems with discussing cryonics is what people see as the limitations of medicine.  How can we regrow and repair the bodies and brains of suspended patients when medicine can't do things like that today?  It's always good to be able to say, "Ah, but we can."

Subject: Off topic: Avatar better than Lord of the Rings

I know that Lord of the Rings was popular amongst many cryonicists when it
came out and thought I should give everyone a heads up on Avatar, which is a
James Cameron movie.  Not only is the story compelling, but the visuals were
off the chart.  Once the movie was over the audience gave a good round of
applause.



We had trouble getting tickets because they were sold out on the first
attempt, so we went early the second time and still had no luck.  The third
attempt worked after purchasing tickets online in advance.  Look for it in
3D at an Imax theater.  If you have to drive a while to get to an Imax
theater, you'll be glad you made the extra effort.
