Hello, Fellow cryonetters:

Hope all is well with all and happy 2010.

Congratulations to you, Ben Best, on the chance to speak at a SciFi
convention.

Every year for the last five or so, my friends who participate in a
speaking/panel track at the DragonCon in Atlanta invite me to participate.
Regretfully, every year this coincides with other activities. But, perhaps
some readers of this post have attended or will attend, and I will most
certainly get to this one of these years. It is huge, I understand over 40
or 50 thousand attend the "Con."

Having public exposure in reasonably good target markets, being an active
part of various communities, seems to me to be a good idea. It has been
observed by others, and is also my personal experience, that the response
rate to interest in cryonics is still surprisingly low, even/especially at
sci-fi conferences. But, timing is important, and exposure to this idea
over extended time may be helpful to it's acceptance.

Ben, I also wanted to say I enjoyed being with you as part of the South
Florida young cryonicists conference last weekend. Your presentations
continue to get better...you are always highly prepared and clearly do your
homework. Good luck at this conference, and please let us know how things
go.

Warm Greetings, Delightful and Indefinite life to all who want it,

Rudi

Another apologetic late response due to busy times-

Mathew Sullivan: Native American culture came through from my observation
and others who watched the movie.

David Stodolsky: This group has not succeeded in driving out the invaders.

Mathew's response: Correct. Smallpox and other diseases for which they had
no immunity, wiped many of those who resided here off the face of the
map. This
reminds me of a Simpons episode called the "Time Travel Nightmare” where
Homer sneezes on a dinosaur (<
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7miw4_the-simpsons-time-travel-nightmare_shortfilms>);
although, to the disappointment of some caucasians today, those who are
native to the Americas are making some resurgence here in North America.

On the other hand, Avatar is just a movie, which is intended to entertain
the masses, and many of which have some form of religious or spiritual
belief, aside from any transhumanist perspective. Personally, I did not
look too deeply into those aspects of the movie and enjoyed the
entertainment for what it had to offer.

Anyway, I plan to see it a second time at IMAX for the benefit of my mother.
