Generation drift? Maybe - and obviously each of us would produce a
different list of 100 female SF authors. But I actually prefer more
recently written stuff, so even though I'm of an older generation, I can't
quite see the drift.

I complained elsewhere that I just can't take seriously a list that
includes both _Dead Until Dark_ by Charlaine Harris as well as _The Female
Man_ by Joanna Russ. I know the list's only criterion is supposed to be "by
a female author," but jeez, that's just jarring.

I'm not even saying one is better than the other. Just that they are like
putting paisley with pinstripes.
