Inscriptions, an open access, peer-reviewed journal is launched

Dear all, 

We are happy to announce that we have now published the first issue of Inscriptions, a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to philosophy, psycho-analysis and the arts. 

In this inaugural issue you will find three previously unpublished translations of original work by Wolfgang Schirmacher (founder and former director of the philosophy programme at the European Graduate School), as well as a comprehensive interview with him conducted in Dresden, Germany, in February this year. Schirmacher is a philosopher of media technology who holds that the machines eventually will eliminate everything which is a threat to their functioning. In the interview he claims that we live in a time when "the trouble humans make are not outweighing, are not worse, than the trouble it is to get rid of the humans. And during that interim the poor humans living there will still have hope." 

This issue also features a phenomenology of no longer reading by Daniel Fraser and three literary contributions that differently question spectrality, romance and memory. 

Inscriptions is an open access journal made entirely by volunteers. We do not have the backing of a scholarly society, an academic institution, or a large publishing house. Therefore we ask of you who find our approach interesting to consider subscribing to our printed edition.
