Save the Date for the SAH Awards Gala
The Society of Architectural Historians will present its 2016 Awards for
Architectural  Excellence at the 6th Annual SAH Awards Gala on Friday,
November 4, 2016. SAH will honor Richard H. Driehaus, The Richard H.
Driehaus Foundation; Sarah Herda, Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in
the Fine Arts; and Peter Landon, FAIA, LEED AP, Landon Bone Baker
Architects. Tickets will go on sale in September.

Call for Nominations to the SAH Board
The 2017 SAH Nominating Committee seeks your recommendations for new SAH
Board members who would begin their terms after the Glasgow annual
conference in June 2017 and would serve until April 2020. The final slate of
nominees should represent the diversity of the field of architectural
history. The deadline for nominations is August 1, 2016.

Announcing New JSAH Book Review Editors
Two new Book Review Editors have been appointed for the Journal of the
Society of Architectural Historians (JSAH). Dale Allen Gyure, professor of
architecture at Lawrence Technological University, will commission reviews
of books on North and South American architecture. Sheila Crane, associate
professor of architectural history at University of Virginia, will
commission reviews of books that fall under the category of Europe, Africa
and Asia from 1750.

Frontiers in Armenia: Hellenistic, Late Antique, Medieval, and Islamic Art
(History) in the Caucasus

Act Now to Prevent Deep Cuts to Funding for Fulbright-Hays
The Senate has proposed a 69% cut to the Fulbright-Hays program, which
supports U.S. scholars, teachers, and students to conduct research and study
abroad. The House Appropriations committee is determining their
appropriations for Fulbright-Hays and for the Title VI program, which
ensures that students on U.S. campuses develop expertise in foreign
languages and area studies. Please help our partner organization, the
National Humanities Alliance, to advocate for Fulbright-Hays funding. Take
action now to urge your Representative to oppose the Senate's cuts to
Fulbright-Hays and to support at least level funding for Title VI and
Fulbright-Hays!

publications in architectural history, urban history, landscape history,

SAH Chapter and Partner News
The Marion Dean Ross Chapter of the SAH is pleased to offer the 2016
Elisabeth Walton Potter Research Award. The purpose of the award is to
further awareness and knowledge of the architectural heritage of the Pacific
Northwest. Awards range from $500 and $2000 and one to several recipients
are named each year. Applications are due by June 17, 2016 (may be

Society of Historians of East European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and
Architecture SHERA held an election of the Board and established a new board
member position of SHERA-SAH Liaison. Hanna Chuchvaha, Nicholas Iljine,
Natalia Kolodzei and Andrei Shabanov were elected as Members-at-Large, and
Anna P. Sokolina as SHERA-SAH Liaison. At the 2017 College Art Association
Annual Conference SHERA will sponsor an Emerging Scholar Session. Six
SHERA-related sessions have been submitted to the 2016 ASEEES Convention in
Washington, DC.


Making plans for SESAH in New Orleans this September? Upon arrival, just
step onto one of the St. Charles streetcars, and let it take you to Tulane
University for the plenaries and paper sessions. Conference presenters may
apply for travel funds. Graduate students and emerging professionals or
