The School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Global Cinemas and Cultures from January 2017.

The appointment will contribute teaching to the School's undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in Film and Visual  Culture and English Studies and undertake research in an area of global cinema, Anglophone literary and cultural studies, Anglophone world cinema, Anglophone postcolonial and transnational cultures,and/or cultural theory. Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field of
study; demonstrate an established record of research and publication; and have extensive experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The role will be undertaken within the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, which is part of the College of Arts & Social Sciences.

The successful candidate will undertake research in an area of global cinema, Anglophone literary and cultural studies, Anglophone world cinema, Anglophone postcolonial and transnational cultures and/or cultural theory. You will contribute to the undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes offered by the departments of Film and Visual Culture and English Studies, will undertake supervision of postgraduate research students, will contribute to the work of the School's research centres, and will pursue external funding opportunities. Responsibilities will also include administrative roles as agreed with Undergraduate Programme Co-ordinators and the Head of School in Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture.

 You will have a PhD in an area of area of global cinema, Anglophone literary and cultural studies, Anglophone world cinema, Anglophone postcolonial and transnational cultures, comparative cultural studies and/or cultural theory relevant to the requirements of the School. You will have an established record of excellent research and publication, success in obtaining external research funding, a clear plan of research activity for the coming years, and extensive experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have excellent written and spoken communication skills, and be able to engage with students and promote student learning in a range of ways.
