Dear colleagues,

The first of this term's talks at the Centre for Film Studies at the
University of St Andrews will take place next Tuesday, 7th February. Dr.
Joshua Yumibe will be talking about 'Into and Out of the Screen: The
Immersive Colours of Silent Cinema'. The talk will draw on Walter
Benjamin's notion of Spielraum ("play space") and use three case studies to
three primary examples to examine the various ways in which colour was
used during silent cinema to create an immersive colour space for the
embodied spectator. The talk will take place from 17:15 to 19:00 in School
6, as usual. All are welcome.
