From: Marsha Orgeron <[email protected]> The Moving Image, Journal of the Association of Moving Image Archivists (U Minnesota Press) AMIA is looking for a new Editor-in-Chief for the journal (see below for details about dates). The Editor in Chief is responsible for all editorial content for two issues annually of the journal, including the refereed Features section, the Forum section, and the Reviews section. The Editor-in-Chief may designate a “Special Issue Editor” once every two years. Coordinates with the work of the Managing Editor, as well as the Book Reviews and Film/DVD Reviews editors. The Editor-in-Chief is specifically responsible for: • Networking with potential authors in academia and the moving image archiving profession; recruiting and soliciting manuscripts. • Contacting potential authors who have expressed an interest in publishing, been referred by others, or given promising papers at conferences. • Reading manuscripts and advising authors on their submissions. • Locating and contacting peer reviewers for feature articles. • Editing final manuscripts that have been accepted for publication, both through peer review and upon recommendation of review editors. • Writing an introduction to each issue. • Approving final “blue line” manuscript before it is sent to the printer. AMIA provides a $2,000 stipend per two issues to cover Editor's travel or other expenses in relation to The Moving Image. Reviewed annually. Qualifications: Substantial record of publications in film and media studies; editing experience preferable; knowledge of academic publishing; ability to communicate effectively. Appointment: The editor/s will be appointed for three years, with a possible extension. Although the new editor/s will officially begin their post on May 1, 2013 to prepare the first issue (14.1) that will be due to the press in October 2013, ideally he/she will shadow the process of putting together the prior issue starting sometime during late 2012 or early 2013.
