Dear Mike:

The end credits for the film indicate that at least three film cameras were
used throughout the picture. The preponderance of overcutting indicates
that multiple cameras were indeed used for the singing scenes as well. I
suspect *American Cinematographer* has an article about the filming which
could be of use to you. Consult their November-December issues.

Your points on post-production are very accurate...there must have been
some "fixing" and manipulating in post.

Peter Bogdanovich had his cast sing live in the underrated *At Long Last
Love *(1975) which unfortunately is unavailable on DVD. That is a much more
accurate study of this process since most of those numbers were filmed in
long single camera takes.
