AREA: The Golden Age(s) of Disney=20

The Golden Age of Disney was born with Mickey Mouse in 1928, and =
arguably, died with Disney himself in 1967. In the intervening years, =
the Walt Disney Company=92s colossal success in animation led the =
company to other ventures, from live-action films to theme parks, with =
Walt at the helm. How do we account for the unprecedented success of the =
films of Disney=92s Golden Age?  Has the renaissance of early Disney =
films brought about a second Golden Age for the company? How can we =
better understand Disney=92s influence on multiple generations of future =
filmmakers, innovators, designers, and others in the world of =
entertainment?

This area, composed of multiple panels, will examine the Golden Age of =
Disney and its impact on filmmaking during and after the Golden Age.  =
Paper proposals that explore any of the multiple dimensions of Walt =
Disney=92s influence on film are welcome. Possible topics include, but =
are not limited to:

=95	Innovation in Disney filmmaking:  Live-action or animation
=95	Edutainment in the early Disney Company
=95	Comparisons between Disney cartoon shorts and other studios=20
=95	Reception of Golden Age movies then and now (Mary Poppins, =
Cinderella, Jungle Book)
=95	The expansion away from the big screen during and after the =
Golden Age: television, home video, digital distribution.
=95	Criticism of Disney Films over the decades.
=95	Race / class / gender in early Disney Films
=95	Comparisons between Golden Age Disney animation and Silver Age / =
Renaissance Disney Animation.

Proposals for complete panels (three related presentations) are also =
welcome, but they must include an abstract and contact information, =
including an e-mail address, for each presenter. For updates and =
