Pairings: B/A, B/S, Spike/Drusilla, Spike/Darla, X/A, W/O, Joyce/Giles possibly others. I have to see where this story is taking me ;) 

Timing: AU, Buffy is a college student, she is living at home with her mom and sister Dawn. Willow is her best friend, Angel is Buffy's long-term boyfriend. Everyone is human.

Summary: Angel and Buffy have been together for ages. Angel is working in a law firm called Wolfram and Hart, Buffy is a college student. At one night their friend Cordelia is having a party and Buffy meets an interesting guy there.

Chapter 2

 

"Who was that?" Willow was curious. 

"Naah, nobody. Well, actually he is Drusilla's boyfriend, so pretty much nobody."
"Drusilla? Wow, she has actually found someone who wants to be with her?"

"Tell me about it," Buffy rolled her eyes. 
Willow giggled.

 

Willow and Buffy found their boyfriends from the living-room. The floor was cleared and people were dancing. The lights were dim and music was loud.

"Hey babe, where have you been?" Angel had to raise his voice so Buffy could hear him.

"In the garden, I needed some fresh air."
"Did you find Xander?"
"No, have you seen him?"
Angel pointed his finger to the dance floor. Buffy saw her ex-best friend dancing with his new girlfriend. They were laughing and kissing. Anya was wearing a very revealing skirt and Xander seemed to enjoy every second he spent exploring her body.

"Major making out there," Buffy said and made Angel laugh. 

Angel wrapped his arm around Buffy's shoulders and they joined Xander and Anya on the floor.

 

Angel let his hand slide from Buffy's shoulder to her lower back. He held her close to make sure that everyone noticed that she belonged to him. Buffy was gorgeous and he knew it. He had seen how the guys followed her with their eyes and tried to flirt with her when ever they had the chance. He was happy to call her his own, he was proud of her and very much in love with her. 
Buffy smiled at him gently and placed a small kiss on his lips. She stepped closer to him and let her body move against his. Angel tightened his grip and pulled her closer. They shared a passionate kiss.

 

Suddenly Buffy saw a familiar face on the crowd. The crystal blue eyes were watching her every move. Buffy was caught in his gaze. She continued dancing, staying close to Angel but her eyes were on him, on his expressionless face, piercing eyes. Suddenly she shook her head and turned to look at Angel. 

 

"Do you know that guy?" Angel asked. He had noticed how Spike and Buffy stared at each other.

"I just met him," Buffy replied with casual voice.

"He is dating Drusilla."
"I know that, he told me."
"So you talked to him?"

"Yes, for a while."

"He is talking to Willow and Oz now, shall we join them?"
Angel led Buffy away from the dance floor.

 

Spike saw Buffy and Angel approaching him. 

He nodded at them and continued his conversation with Oz. Buffy heard them talking about music.

"What is he doing in here," Buffy whispered to Willow's ear. 
"Oz knows him, it has something do with music, I don't know," Willow replied quietly.

 

"There you are, I've been looking for you!" Cordelia announced and walked to Buffy. 

"Are you having fun?"

"Sure, as always," Buffy lied. She was actually bored. Cordelia had these parties quite often and they were always the same. A lot of people, even more alcohol, loud music, dancing. Same faces every time, people from the college, old classmates. Buffy sighed.

"Do you wanna dance?" 

Buffy recognized the voice. Spike had moved quietly to stand next to her. Now he was observing her, waiting for her to reply.

The loud rock music had stopped and the DJ that Cordelia had hired changed the record. 

Buffy looked at Angel in confusion. He nodded and smiled. 

"Go ahead honey, I'm gonna get more beer from the kitchen," Angel said.

"I've got his permission," Spike said dryly. He cocked his head and smiled wickedly.

 Willow grinned at Buffy, it was funny to see her so confused. Usually she was very self-assured and enjoyed the attention. 

"Fine, what the heck," Buffy said and let Spike lead her to the dance floor.

She saw Willow, Oz and Angel leaving the room and sighed. 

"Just one dance," Buffy looked Spike firmly in the eyes. 

"That's all I need," he replied with a grin.

 

"Sights and sounds

Spike placed his hand gently around Buffy's tiny body. Buffy was surprised how strong his arm was, how good he smelled, like a rainy summer night. Without even knowing what she was doing she slipped her arms under his leather coat, around his slim waist. Spike pulled her closer and closed his eyes. Buffy leaned her head on his chest. She could hear his heart beating. 

 

"Gaslights

glow in the street

(flickering past)

twilight held us

in her palm

as we walked along."

 

Spike moved his right hand up to Buffy's neck and smoothed the sensitive skin with his fingertips.

Buffy shivered with pleasure. 

Spike ran his fingers through her golden hair, gently, almost unintentionally. He was completely lost in the moment, Buffy felt so warm and fragile in his arms. 

Buffy breath his scent and felt his presence with every cell of her body. Spike's hands were incredibly gentle and her boredom and worries were wiped away by his touch.

 

"How did it go so 

fast

you'll say as we are looking back

and then we'll understand

we held gold dust

in our 

hands."

 

Spike stroke Buffy's hair with such an indulgence she had never experienced before.

Everything else around her disappeared. Buffy sighed silently with pleasure. She lifted her head and looked deep into the blueness of Spike's eyes. They were like windows to the eternity, clear blue like Northern winter nights, full of yearning. The same yearning Buffy recognized in her own heart.

The longing for being complete.

Angel's voice brought Buffy abruptly back to the reality. 

"I think that's enough," Angel said coldly and almost pushed Spike away from Buffy. 

Buffy looked around her and saw Willow and Oz standing behind Angel. Willow's eyes were full of questions. Buffy just shook her head. 

Spike turned and walked away. 

 

"What was that all about? I thought you were just going to dance with the guy. I didn't expect you to be drooling all over him."
"Angel, what the hell you are talking about?"
"There was nothing going on between you two? I saw him stroking your hair and smiling like an idiot." Angel was angry. 

The memory of Spike's touch made Buffy's heart beat a little bit faster. 

"There was nothing going on, believe me. We are just. friends." 

Buffy tried to sound as convincing as she could. She didn't mean to upset Angel. 

"Maybe we should leave. I am tired of this lousy party.  I'm going to find Doyle and ask him if he wants to go bowling tomorrow and then we'll leave, ok?" Angel sounded annoyed.

"Ok, I'll wait here."

 

"What was that all about?"
"Xander!"
Buffy hugged him tightly.

"Can't breath, release me please," Xander joked and pretended to be choking.

Buffy let him go and smiled widely.

"Where have you been hiding all night?"
"Well, on the dance floor mostly. I saw you with the Billy Idol look-a-like. Angel didn't like the way you two were holding each other, right?" Xander sounded almost worried.

"We weren't holding, just a dancing. It was nothing."
"Well, it looked like something. But if you say it was nothing, then nothing it was." 
Xander hugged Buffy again.

"I have to go to find Anya but I'll see you next week, ok?"

"It would be nice. Call me, ok?"
"I will. Take care and try to sort this out with Angel. I don't like to see either of you unhappy."

Xander turned to leave and Buffy followed him with her eyes. Suddenly she noticed two girl staring at her. 
A gothic girl Drusilla and her best friend Darla. Their eyes were blazing with anger and disgust. Obviously they had seen her dancing with Spike.

"Oh boy," Buffy sighed and looked the other way.

 

"I'm ready, let's go. You have to drive, I've been drinking," Angel's voice was still angry. 

Buffy and Angel walked silently to the car. Buffy sat on the driver's seat. She felt a headache coming. 

Before she drove away from the parking lot of the Chase's house she saw Spike standing outside, smoking a cigarette and watching her driving away.
