Yeah, maybe. Hmm. Actually you can look at some version of the
shooting script at
http://www.wordsfromhere.com/scripts/lynch/fwwm.pdf
It's interesting reading for any hardcore Peaks fan. The Jeffries
scene is quite a bit more straightforward there, although I have to
admit I love what they did with it in the movie, and wouldn't trade
it. David Bowie is way more interesting than the Jeffries character
on paper.
Anyway, right at the end it cuts back to Annie in the hospital.
She has THE ring, but a nurse steals it from her. I read somewhere
that the nurse was named Judy, and that she was supposed to figure
in the third season, but for the life of me I can't remember where I
read that, or if there's anything to it. So maybe I was wrong when I
was talking about that...
But anyway, I've been reading more about Jeffries, and I think I
was right when I said he was confused as to what time/day/year it
was. In the original shooting script he looks at a calendar in the
FBI office and is very puzzled to see that it says May 1989. So he's
been in some other time for sure, and it's reasonable to guess that
he's been in the future.
