make your own ending! (since the bastids canceled the show too soon)

Since the show will obviously never continue, and the ending we're
left with isn't actually a real ending at all, I guess I'll have to
imagine my own plot continuations.
For sure I think that a big part of it would be that the good Dale,
trapped in the Red Room, would appear to people in cryptic visions.
It would then be up to everyone to piece the clues together to
figure out
A. That the Dale currently walking around is evil Dale
B. What happened to the good Dale in the Red Room
C. The fact that he's trapped there now
D. How to get him out.
This time it would be up to a lot of different people to figure it
out together, whereas before Dale carried almost all of the
responsibility for figuring out who killed Laura. Everyone would
play some role, perhaps Annie and Briggs in particular.
First, I think they would follow the clues given by good Dale, and
other spirits, to predict the exact time and circumstances under
which evil Dale would try to commit murder, and to set a trap for
him whereby the murder is stopped and he is subsequently imprisoned.
(Annie is the most likely would-be victim, although Audrey (who is
NOT dead in my plot-continuation) is another possibility.)
(Perhaps before the trap situation could be set, people might be led
by visions/coincidences to show up at opportune times to deter him
from trying other murders?...)
Anyway, that's step 1, getting evil Dale in prison. Step 2 is trying
to get good Dale back into the world. It might be slightly tempting
to leave him in there for awhile, appearing only in visions and
whatnot, maybe becoming a sort of white spirit. But if you did want
to get him back out, how to do that???? Hopefully not some "clap
your hands if you believe in fairies" nonsense...
Here's one idea. Annie and Briggs enter the Red Room. Each may have
to contend with their dopplegangers, to penetrate the maze of the
Red Room and find the way to Dale.
Annie allows her body to be jointly inhabited by herself and the
good Dale, and in this state they return into the world. (Like
Leland/Bob, Annie/Dale might be usually perceived as Annie, but
sometimes perceived as Dale...)
Then, perhaps Annie/Dale could come to the prison and have a series
of confrontations with evil Dale. What would be at issue in these
confrontations and what would result? I don't know. Of course, for
Dale to fully confront his shadow self might be worth a certain
amount in itself. Perhaps looking deep into the evil Dale's eyes
would plunge the good Dale into various flashbacks, parallel worlds,
possible futures, and supernatural realities...
Perhaps it could end in a sort of postponement, where evil Dale
leaves Dale's body, but continues to exist. Evil Dale would still
live in dreams, in the Red Room, etc. Dale will have to face him
again at another time, perhaps when he dies.
Well, you know, there are hundreds of other possibilities, but hey,
it's fun to make them up... more fun than obsessing about what the
writers intended without being able to find it out.
