If it all goes away, Gmane will be sorely missed. I have several fairly active lists to which I subscribe here. For 90% of the messages I look no further than the subject. The thought of all that traffic landing in my mailbox is not attractive, especially if I am reading on a device like my phone, which couldn't handle it. Having everything in a nicely threaded newsgroup, where it can be easily examined or ignored, is just so much easier.
