No! :) > I don’t know what’s going to happen [...] > because I don’t even know what I want to do > here, or what people want to have happen What do people want? People want Gmane! And, in particular the Emacs Gnus interface where mailing lists appear and behave as Usenet newsgroups. A web archive would be good but isn't anything to over-emphasize if no one can do it in a relaxed way. But it would be good as the discussions are then accessible to the people who use Google, that way they will not only find answers to their questions (sometimes :)), they will also find _us_ and hopefully join our small communities! So yes a web archive would be good in all the obvious archive senses, but also in the get-help-find-us aspect! Remember tho that many people who have mailing lists have their own archives so yeah, an archive isn't necessary if nobody want to do it, really. > In many ways, I do want Gmane to go away and > not have to think about it any more, because > it’s all tied up in feelings of inadequacy. > I hope I’m not fishing for sympathy here; > this has been really awkward to write [...] You are not fishing for sympathy, you are bold enough to write about personal stuff! You are great and everyone knows that. Thinking about stuff like that, speaking and writing about it doesn't change anything. We want Lars and we want Gmane! <3 -- underground experts united http://user.it.uu.se/~embe8573 https://dataswamp.org/~incal
