Generate thumbnail using abiword

Hi,

I got a trouble when trying to generate a thumbnail from a doc file.
Here is how I tried:
abiword --thumb=1 and --sizeXY=100x100 sample.doc
I expected this would generate a sample.png but I got this,
"No DISPLAY: this may not be what you want."

How to create a thumbnail for the first page of a doc file? I am not
able to figure out the correct usage of --thumb ...
