Good morning from Japan I think I tried Abiword before, but could not come to terms with it. Now I am trying again (desperately trying to get away from MS). 1. I use three languages: German, English and Japanese. Switching the keyboard layout and thus input language between English and German is no problem. But when I switch to Japanese input, I get a tiny little (input) window in the left upper corner, allowing to show only a few characters. Hitting Enter then inserts those into the document. BUT, they are shown only as squares = I have to manually change font each time. Every other wordprocessor I know of (MS Word, OpenOffice/Libreoffice Writer, Wordpad, Jarte, Polyedit Lite, even WordPerfect, which basically cannot handle Japanese) "automatically" switches to input on the main screen AND shows the entered characters. Is there a trick that will enable Abiword to do the same? If there isn't, it will cause a lot of unnecessary work (not very appealing). If I may ask one more question. I know ther ARE spelling dictionaries for languages other than English and downloaded the one for German, but could not yet figure out how to install it. I found somewhere on the website something that looks like programming to me. = way beyond my capabilities. Is there a way to do something like "click - install - finish" for this?
