Abiword 2.8.6 and problem or bug: Abiword conversion from pdf to text fails on several installation

Recently I filed http://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13167 .
It has relevance to a problem with Etherpad-Lite

which I try to solve - I am working with the Etherpad-Lite developers.

In this mail I only refer to Abiword command line use,
and only to Abiwords convert functions.

I have three installation on different servers,
but two of the three installations have the

Abiword does _not_ correctly convert PDF to TEXT:
it shows the PDF file's bytes instead.

abiword --plugin=AbiCommand
Abiword>convert x.pdf x.txt txt

x.txt shows the PDF file in bytes, instead the extracted text.

This happens on two of three of my installation running SLES-11 and OpenSuse
11.3 in a headless server environment (virtual machines, hosted servers).

The version on OpenSuse 11.4 is working correctly and converts the text
from the PDF file on the command line as expected.


And perhaps, can you give a detailed explanation on your wiki page

- "configure/make/make install" Abiword

- for a headless server environment
- without GUI
- with AbiCommand and all the nice import/export support ?
