BXE2.0 - Can't make it work locally

Dear all,

I recently checked out the BXE 2.0 trunk from SVN, put it into my
webserver and tried to run the demo. But when I hit "Edit article" the BXE
splash screen stays forever. When I click on it, it goes away but I cannot
edit. I see the boxes around the individual items, but I cannot change
anything.

Calling up the demo from your website with the very same browser works fine.

I even tried checking out the exact same revision as the online demo on
your website runs on, but had the same problem. So I am convinved this
needs to be something local, but I have no idea where to start searching.

Any hints from the experienced?
