Yes, indeed!

I am currently looking for good ways to edit arbitrary XML documents in
and end-user compatible fashion. You're probably aware that this not
trivial. So I am looking at different alternatives. BXE 2.0 sounds
promising to be, though I view it as a huge minus that it is tied to
Mozilla. Therefore we look at CForms based editing as well (as an
alternative) and let the user choose.

For a document such as a link list or an FAQ entry, a form is probably the
simplest as is 100% browser independent. Also further down the road
looking at stuff line XForms and XAML I can envision really neat stuff in
that direction.

But for text centric documents that are XHTML-like but either contain
surrounding information (such as the Echo/Atom stuff) or for document that
are basically XHTML but require a bit more intelligence in terms of
including fragments, assets or links forms aren't the solution at all.

It's still not easy!

In the medium term, we are experimenting towards a plugin architecture for
Lenya that might make it for 1.4. I want to use BXE 2.0 to experiment with
that and create a BXE 2.0 plugin. Having a proper contract for plugins
might foster a 3rd party plugin ecosystem (similar to the one of JEdit for
example) which will yield more choice the the end user. Especially Lenya
releases could be independent of editor's releases.
