The new version of Substance is testing really well, no issues under java 8
or 9 that I can see. I don't see the mouse over issue you mentioned with
this version. Once the final release of Substance is available, I'll put in
a release request for the jEdit plugin for it.

I haven't spent any time with JTattoo yet, but I should get to it in the
next few days.
