The FTP plugin is not under active development. Neither is the jsch library
upon which FTP is based.
It is possible the problems you are having are due to a jEdit bug, but to
investigate further, you need to open a ticket in plugin-bugs tracker with
info on how to reproduce, what kinds of errors you are getting (attach the
activity log, in case it shows us something).
If you are a Java developer and want to help out in debugging it and making
it better, any help is appreciated. I am not the original developer and I
am learning my way around the code just like anyone else.
