OK Gottfried, I see your problem is complex. Just a few points that may be of use. 1. UTF-8 encoding is for Unicode only. 2. Authoritative Unicode info is at UNICODE.ORG 3. Take a look at Erler Dingbats (http://ffdingbatsfont.com/erler/index.html). This is a free Unicode offering with a glyph for every codepoint assigned to Dingbats. Glyph index: http://ffdingbatsfont.com/glyph-set/pdf/ffdingbats2_0.pdf 4. You might want to hunt down the font utility SIL ViewGlyph.
