focus on opening jEdit

Something that has bugged me for years - When I am in Windows Explorer and double-click to open something in jEdit, often (but not always) jEdit does not receive focus even though it comes to the forefront. This means that if I decide that's the wrong file and hit Ctrl+W, I don't close the file, I close Windows Explorer. Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas how I could fix it?
