Cannot paste special characters into nano 4.3 -- only nano 2.0.6 will

Hi,

I can't paste special characters into nano 4.3 -- only nano 2.0.6 will. Last week, I posted details and screenshots here:

There has been no response so I thought I would ask you -- any ideas?
