Everything now works exactly as I wanted. The `tabgives` directive was =
the missing piece, and I'm glad to know that it exists since nano 8.0.

I was using the syntax files from the popular `scopatz/nanorc` =
repository on GitHub, which did not yet include a `tabgives` directive =
in its `makefile.nanorc`. Since this repo seems to be widely used =
(judging by the number of stars), I created an issue there to suggest =
adding it:
