These are well known for side-stepping APIs available for the rest of 
us... What's more interesting is whether 'normal' apps display Greek 
(e.g. notepad).

That's because the OS' default font can't display Greek, probably.

Only one, I'm afraid: switch to some OS with Unicode support, e.g.
