And anyone can copy and paste something just as unexpected as an unexpected CSV file into plaintext file. The killer reason for using CSV is that *every* spreadsheet application can write it. And there's actually a specification for (commonly used variant of) CSV in RFC 4180 (and the Wikipedia description isn't bad either).
