In most cases, the translations I receive are second-hand, from a client. I work as a web developer for small-medium businesses. That kind of client is very conscious of costs, and likes to source content themselves if there is a chance of getting cheaper work done. In this case, for example, one of our clients decided to go with part-time translators going through a contractor site and provide me with the translations, instead of allowing us to contact professional translators and have the job done properly - the end product is messier and awkward for us, but possibly ends up with the client saving a little bit of money (I'm dubious about this - but what the client wants...). So, in some cases, I cannot dictate how the translations arrive. At the most, I can tell my client what I absolutely refuse to accept. For example, some translator translated some webpages for him and provided it in what looks like powerpoint format (I don't use powerpoint - I'm guessing). I couldn't use it, and the client wasted his money. I /do/ accept translations that are clear and legible. this includes .po, .xls, .csv, and at the extreme, strings in .doc -- Kae Verens' signature http://webworks.ie/ lead programmer http://verens.com/ my blog http://kfm.verens.com/ current project -- this is Kae's signature's signature. -- Kae's signature's signature does not get one though ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW!
