I don't think so.

The error message is rather obtuse, in my opinion.  I also encountered
it in the long distant past and I could never figure out what it meant
until fairly recently when it was specifically pointed out to me that
valid PO files of the Gettext dialect can't contain anything (strings,
texts, locations, definitions, whatever) that also occur elsewhere in
the file.

So, Georged, your PO file is simply not of the Gettext dialect.  Perhaps
it was not generated by Gettext tools (it is, after all, possible to
create PO files from other files, not necessarily program source code).

PoEdit can still edit your files.  Look, your translations have been
saved to the PO file, even though PoEdit gives the error message.

I agree (and I just tried it again) that the error message in PoEdit
creates the impression that something awful has just happened, when in
fact the message is merely informational.

In fact, this error message has *nothing* to do with the translator.  By
the time the translator opens the file in PoEdit, he's already toast.
The error message is really meant for the project manager that gave the
PO file to the translator in the first place.

I don't understand why the default option in PoEdit is to generate a MO
file anyway.  It is this setting that causes this error message if the
PO file is "not valid Gettext dialect".

Georged, if you don't want to see the error message, go File ->
Preferences -> Editor, and untick "Automatically compile .mo file on save".
