As usual, please describe the problem in more detail. In particular
   - the original string
   - your translation that caused the error (where the "\n"s are?)
   - *what* the error is, *exactly*
   - what else do I need to reproduce it

The way you describe it, I have trouble believing your account, because
Poedit itself does *not* do any such tests.

Only msgfmt does, and that at worst causes MO creation failure, but most
definitely does *not* result in any changes -- let alone data loss -- in
the PO file itself. Not least because it's not possible to run msgfmt
until the PO file was successfully saved. In other words, by the time
you get that error, the data are already written to disk.
