Those are the results I also get here. Why gedit and gettext on the 
webserver interprets them differently totally escapes me.

You're probably thinking that I'm smoking crack by now. I have therefore 
put up these screenshots of how gedit displays those exact files on my

Remember I'm a user, not a developer. However I know what an md5sum is, 
it was just that it hadn't crossed my mind.

This is as absurd to me as it is to you.

I don't think that I, with my knowledge, am able to research this any 
further. The symptoms being so faint makes this a tricky bug to track 
down, wherever it may be residing. I tried to do the steps I so vaguely 
described in my last email with some "hello world" type sourcecode, 
hoping that the symptoms would be consistent with the previous case. It 
was not, which really makes this whole thing even more absurd and harder 
to isolate.

I'd be happy to help if there is anything more I can do. Otherwise I'll 
just consider this an unexplainable phenomenon, be happy that I got 
things to work for me, and move on.
