All this is way over my head, but somehow I get the feeling that 
something might be wrong with your machine.

For my taste you get way to many segfaults with applications (poEdit, 
pyInstaller and where there others?) in situations of very basic 
situations (i.e. you are not pushing the application to any limit or 
have a strange use case).

You are on Ubuntu, could it be that something on a system level is 
corrupted which affects these different applications?

Just a thought.
