I swear it didn't. I used "find /usr/local -name 'libwx*'" to look for 
them, they weren't there. I used "ls" to look for them, they weren't 
there. I ran "make install" again, and they weren't there. When I tried 
to compile PoEdit the compiler said it could not find them. What more do

Thing is, I *did* read the documentation. I read the man page for 
gettext, xgettext, I read some information on the wxWidgets website, and 
the help system from poEdit. There is probably something somewhere that 
I haven't read, but please don't think that I haven't read at all. I 
have invested much more than 15 minutes reading.

For example, I did not see anywhere that explained what the "keyword" 
means. My understanding of the wxWidgets documentation is that xgettext 
searches inside _() automatically and that I need to use -k only if I 
add wxGetTranslation() macros. See, I read that, didn't I? Look:

So, if you read that page, which I did, you will "learn" that you do 
*not* need the -k option if you only use _() because it is "standard". 
So I decided to not use wxGetTranslation and only use _() to make sure 
that everything went perfectly for xgettext.

In all the pages that I read (a few on the wxWidgets website, two man 
pages, and much of the PoEdit help system) I never found an explanation 
of what "keyword" means (see, I read that too). But I trusted the 
wxWidgets documentation about the use of -k.


So please stop saying I don't read documentation. I have spent a lot 
more time reading documentation than the 15 minutes you claim I need.

I'm sure that there is some page, somewhere that says that actually the 
wxWidgets docs are wrong and you need to add -k_ to get the translation 
strings. But don't blame me for not having seen that page yet, unless 
you want to claim that I need to spend a lot more than 15 minutes 
reading documentation before I can make a simple .po file.
