Re: RDI Opening Local PC File from Command Line Switch

I created an idea, to open a member (or IFS file) in a running RDi instance from an external point.

But the idea idles on "Future Consideration" since July 2021 - so I don't have much hope, that it will come anytime soon.

In my opinion IBM has shifted all new development to VSCode / Code for i - and I don't know how many new features will come to RDi in the future. Sure IBM will update the syntax checker to support new RPG %BIFs or statements - but I don't think it will be much more.

We are definitely thinking about switching to VSCode in the next 1 or 2 years. Right now we are only waiting for our change management system to get it's own VSCode plugin.
