That's right but this dialog box is just a quick way to specify a helper

The helper apps used by all parts of XXE including the "Browse Files" 
tool 
(http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/browseFilesPane.html) 
are actually specified using the Options|Preferences dialog box, Tools, 
"Helper applications" section. See 
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/toolsOptions.html#helperApplicationsOptions

In order to modify the helper app for PDF files that are opened via the 
«Browse files» tools, please open the Preferences dialog box, select the 
"Helper applications" section, select "PDF files" then click Edit. See 
attached screenshot.
