I believe this was answered when I originally proposed Burrokeet as a
member of CIS. However, I will answer it again without looking in the
archives, I hope I give the same answer ;-)

What can CIS expect of Burrokeet?
---------------------------------

CIS can expect Burrokeet to contribute to the development of CIS in the
same way that any other member will. For example, CIS can expect
Burrokeet to listen to your needs and consider them when working on the
Burrokeet product. This does not mean that we will develop Burrokeet in
the direction CIS needs, but we will endeavor to do so when there are no
conflicts between the needs of CIS and Burrokeet itself.

What can Burrokeet expect from CIS?
-----------------------------------

Burrokeet can expect to have input into the further development of
Burrokeet as a result of a two way dialog.

No - none whatsoever - nobody, whether it is the Burrokeet project or an
individual member of CIS, can be forced to do anything, only a request
can be made. Similarly no member of CIS can demand anything of other
members of CIS.

The fact that Anil is a member of CIS independently of Burrokeet is
irrelevant to the fact that Burrokeet is, as a member of CIS, is
providing *financial resources* to assist its development.

You correctly made a *request* of Anil as a private member of CIS,
however, I made a *demand* of Anil as a paid member of the Burrokeet
team (and of course offered my assistance as another paid member of the
Burrokeet team). My wording in the email was very poor, and in all
probability innapropriate for a public list (it wouldn't be here in the
UK, but you guys can't be expected to always make allowances for the
differences between our cultures - my appologies if anyone I have
offended - in particular Anil).

I want CIS to succeed. You will recall that when I left Trinidad I
assured you that I would assist in finding you funding for your
projects. I am trying to come good on that by offering what assistance I
can at this stage.

CIS is currently a non-entity, it has private members who are doing good
work, but as a unit it is irrelevant, I cannot get funding for an
irrelevant entity and so I am trying to assist in bringing some unity to
this voluteer effort by providing *paid for* time.

From a personal perspective, I can assure you that I will not be doing
any work on CIS unless someone is paying for it, I like you have to eat.
When I was in Trinidad UWI paid for my time, right now Burrokeet is
paying for it. I imagine that other members of CIS feel the same way,
they will only provide contributions if there is a personal benefit.

By asking Burrokeet staff to contribute as part of their job function I
am hoping to move CIS forward at a faster pace than has been seen. I am
very keen to ensure that a local project is set up before funindg on
Burrokeet runs out since I want to make sure that Anil remains a part of
the Burrokeet team, something I can only be certain of if he is paid to
be a member. I do not believe that this affects Anils, or any
individuals personal contributions to CIS.

In summary, CIS cannot make demands of Burrokeet, it an make requests,
but Burrokeet can choose to prioritise its resources in such a way that
those requests are met with haste.

Does this cover all your concerns?
